The novel "The Correspondent" has prompted enthusiasm for the art of letter writing and media attention to this subject.

Author Virginia Evans accepted the 50th PEN/Hemingway Pen award for a debut novel on April 26, 2026.  The same day, Hummingbird Books in Chestnut Hill hosted  her at an author talk.

Felix Doolittle Stationery in West Newton, has developed a new line of letter writing stationery inspired by the novel.

Together they are sponsoring an evening event, "The Art of Letter Writing",  guided by Karen Fullerton of Letters Trellis.
